Czech long-term ecological research network includes 7 sites with a long history of research: reservoirs in the Vltava River watershed, 2 national parks and UNESCO biosphere reserves (BR) Krkonoše and Šumava and 4 protected landscape areas and BRs Křivoklátsko, Třeboň Basin, Pálava and Bílé Karpaty. Project (1997-2000): Evaluation and prognosis of ecosystem change based on analysis of long-term data series was supported by Grant Agency of CR. Data series were used to assess the deterioration of ecosystems function and to identify the impacts of environmental changes connected with political and economic transition. Ecosystems were evaluated across the sites: aquatic ecosystems (reservoirs, lakes, brooks), wetlands (ponds, mires, peat bogs), grasslands(mountain and alluvial meadows) and forests (mountain and lowland). Some preliminary data are discussed: acidification and recovery in lakes and forests, long-term cycles and eutrophication in reservoirs and fish ponds and the effects on
