Microdistribution and diurnal behaviour of two sympatric mountain butterflies (Erebia epiphron and E. euryale): relations to vegetation and weather.
Original language description
Distribution and activity of adults of Erebia epiphron and E. euryale living sympatrically at alpine grasslands at the summits of the Hrubý Jeseník Mts were studied. The observation records were analysed in relation to vegetation structure, weather conditions and time of day. E. epiphron displayed higher affinity to patches of short-grass vegetation and higher temperature and insolation for activity, females of both species required higher insolation than males.
