Parasitoids of aphid pests on conifers and their state as biocontrol agents in the Middle East to Central Asia on the world background (Hym., Braconidae, Aphidiinae: Hom., Aphididae)

  • Original language description

Pauesia hazratbalensis Bhagat, an aphid parasitoid was newly detected and reared from Cinara tujafilina on Thuja orientalis in a lowland area (Urban ecosystem, Tehran, Iran). The originally montane species (Kasmir, Kirghizia) proved its capability to occur also in the lowland area. This phenomenon, together with its representation as the only known parasitoid of Cinara tujafilina/Cupressaceae is believed to be potentially useful in the biocontrol of the targer aphid in the Mediterranean and other partsof the world.
