The diganosis of Diplectanocotyla Yamaguti, 1953 (Monogenoidea: Dactylogyridea) is emened, the genus is transferred to the Diplectanidae, and the Diplectanocotylidae is considered a junior synonym of the Diplectanidae. Diplectanocotyla magalopis is redescribed from gills of Atlantic tarpon, Megalops atlanticus (Megalopidae), from the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua and Mexico (new host and locality records)

Byl redeskribován druh Diplectanocotyla magalopis ze žaber atlantického tarpona, Megalops atlanticus (Megalopidae), z atlantického pobřeží Nikaraguy a Mexika (noví hostitelé a lokality)
