Morphological characterization of somatic hybrids S. pinnatisectum + S. tuberosum cv. Bintje
Original language description
This paper describes the morphology of 31 somatic hybrids S. pinnatisectum + S. tuberosum cv. Bintje. The most of them was similar to tbr parent. The morphological abnormalities and dwarfishness were observed at eight hybrids. The flowering was recordedat 26 somatic hybrids i.e. 84 % but flowers produced small amount of pollen. The female fertility was tested by sexual hybridization. 172 flowers were pollinated from 12 combinations and 12 berries were formed but only berries of SH 316 had 117 immatureseeds. The vegetative period of somatic hybrids was late as the wild parent. The differences in the set of tubers and yield were significant between somatic hybrids and their parents. The half of tested somatic hybrids had very good tuber productivity even if no of them overtook the tbr parent. On the base of the morphology and the agronomical parameters, 21 perspective somatic hybrids were selected as suitable for potato breeding programme.
