Evaluation of resistance to Phytophthora infestans in somatic hybrids S. pinnatisectum + S. tuberosum cv. Bintje
Original language description
This paper describes assessment of resistance to P. infestans in somatic hybrids and their parents. A significant dependence of resistance on genotype was found. More detailed statistical evaluation revealed the resistant genotypes whose lesion growth rate was similar to pnt 8166. Resistant genotypes represented 35.5 % of all tested somatic hybrids. Differences in the infection efficiency were not statistically significant for tested somatic hybrids and their parents. A dependence of resistance on cytoplasm composition and ploidy level was found. The genotype with cytoplasm type W? (pnt 8166) was more resistant than genotypes with other types of cytoplasm. A similar situation was found for ploidy level: the diploid (pnt 8166) was significantly more resistant than tetraploids and hexaploids.
