In the Czech Republic the major part of the potatoes is grown by conventional technology. Unfortunately, organic potato growing technology, which requires special care in production of quality organic potatoes, is so far little extended. Even if individual growing steps are essentially the same as in conventional technology, protection of potatoes without chemical treatments and fertilization without artificial fertilizers has to be balanced by choosing appropriate measures, creating suitable environment for the growth and development of plants. The aim of economic analysis was to compare technology of potato growing in 2010 - 2012 years in terms of cost and profitability of production. In organic farming 4 farms were evaluated, in conventional systemof potato growing 8 chosen potato producers were involved in the evaluation. Average yield of potatoes was lower in organic farming by 46,3 % (16,3 t/ha) in comparison with conventional technology. Quite the opposite situation was recorde
