Effect of various ways of fertilizer application on yield, internal quality and mechanical resistance in potatoes
Original language description
Between 2010 and 2012 various ways and dates of mineral nitrogen fertilizer applications were studied in potatoes under conditions of potato production region of the Czech Republic. Variants including pre-plant broadcast application of full N rate (100 kg/ha) in urea and DAM 390 were compared to variants, where a half of N rate was pre-plant and a half was post-emergently applied (prior to intensive nutrient uptake by potato plants) using equipment for ridge application (liquid DAM 390). A variant containing post-emergent application of full N rate into ridges was also included. For application of liquid fertilizer into ridges a functional model of applicator designed for these purposes was used. Two potato varieties differing in growing period duration (very early Magda and medium-early Janet) were involved in the trial. The best yield results in both varieties were recorded for the variant of split mineral N rate applied prior to planting and after emergence. The variant of applying
