Original language description
Mineral nutrition and potato fertilization is a non-substitutable element of growing technology with an important impact on potato yield and quality. Current level of using mineral nitrogen fertilizers for potato growing is low. Nitrogen forms, which could be used by plants, have already been known for many decades and fertilizers applied into the soil contain these forms or they must be converted to these forms after soil application. Urea belongs to the most applied nitrogen fertilizers. UreaStabil is a newer form of mineral nitrogen fertilizer. The urea-based fertilizer contains urease inhibitor, which provides typical characteristics of the fertilizer. It enables application of nitrogen form suitable for the plant (urea) and limits the risk of nitrogen loss by ammonia leakage into the atmosphere and increases efficiency of the applied nitrogen. Compared to conventional urea better preconditions for transport of non-hydrolyzed urea to plant roots are created due to acting of urease inhibitor
