Measurement of biological aerosols in an aerosol chamber
Original language description
The standard system for aerosol exposure of mice in aerosol chamber was evolved. This system will be used for the immunological studies of murine organism after aerosol exposure of intracellular pathogens - Francisella tularensis model. The pneumatic nebulizer with recycling of bacterial suspension, dynamic aerosol chamber "nose only" for exposure of 12 mice were applied. Pressure on orifice and flow rate through the atomizer, flow rate, temperature and humidity in the chamber were measured. Density, viscosity, consumption of aerosolized suspension and number of cultivable bacteria in suspension were appointed. CMD (count median diameter), MMD (mass median diameter) and GSD (geometric standard deviation) were determined by the 4-stage cascade impactoraccording May (1). The number of cultivable F. tularensis in aerosol was established by the glass impinger and Andersen 6-stage cascade impactor (2). The correlation between technical parameters, MMD, GSD and number of cultivable bacteria
