Growth curves, measurement and 3D reconstruction in the histopathology of temporal bones
Original language description
Histological findings of the temporal bone can be evaluated from several views. The basic evaluation consists of the description of characteristics of particular temporal bones. In case we look for characteristics typical for some syndrome we must evaluate appropriate set of histological findings with statistical methods to create and test valid hypothesis. As input data are being used results from measurement of size of the selected structures or the topology and distances among the structures. Digitalization of histological samples enables to apply more sophisticated methods of exploration; e.g. we are able to determine surfaces of the selected structures. Digitized data can be used to create a three dimensional models for computer reconstruction which can be also explored and measured. Last mentioned ways of exploration of histological findings are based mainly on application of statistics and computer graphics.
