Original language description
The term of Islamic terrorism provokes a general perception that Islam is the root cause of the terrorist threat and that Islamic religion itself is radical and violent. This assumption dominates in present day society despite several studies demonstrating exactly the opposite. Through this article we would like to contribute to the contemporarily often discussed issue of Islamic terrorism and its relation to Islam. The aim of the article is to point to ideological sources that inspire today’s terrorists with a particular focus on the role of Islamic religion with regard to Islamic terrorism.
