Language proficiency assessment from pedagogical and statistical perspectives
Original language description
The article deals with the preliminary results of a study focused on the comparison of English language proficiency self-assessment, teachers’ assessment and real examination results. The examination results are from the standardized language examination used in NATO countries (examinations in accordance with NATO STANAG 6001). The presented data were gathered from a questionnaire administered to students enrolled in intensive, life-long language learning courses during one academic year. Statistical methods were applied to analyse the data obtained from the questionnaire to compare how accurately the student s and their teachers were able to predict the examination results.
