Modelling and Simulation Support to Medical Treatment Chain in Role 1

  • Original language description

Role 1 medical treatment at the battalion level command focuses on the provision of the primary health care being the very first physicians and higher medical equipment intervention to casualties’ treatment. Role 1 has the paramount importance in casualties’ reduction in the current operations representing a complex system. The successful treatment depends on casualties’ transportation from battlefield to Role 1, where lifesaving medical intervention takes place, and on processes in Role 1. It depends on resources available (transport vehicles, medical and supporting staff, materiel) and proper resources allocation, i.e. decision process. The paper deals with the task of transportation from the battlefield to Role 1 replicated by multi-agent modelling paradigm, and the medical treatment processes in Role 1 represented by process modelling approach. Initial data on casualties is taken from Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX) exercises and the outputs of the model are compared to decision process during the CAX. Based on simulation outputs, the Role 1 structure is proposed and decision risks are discussed.
