Research has been solved within the Defence Research Programme of the Czech Ministry of Defence. The article deals with the Importance of fuel additives for diesel engines. Article lists the benefits of additives in terms of operation engines declared their producers. The experimental work is focussed on Envirox additive. A problem of research the influence of additives on the operation of military equipment includes economic, technical and environmental aspects. Data were collected both in the real operation of ten vehicles in the military unit, and on the two engines under laboratory conditions. Diesel engines have included the types of vehicles Land Rover Defender and Tatra 815th. Economic and technical aspects of the influence of additives on the operation of vehicles, both in field and laboratory, are not shown definitely beneficial. Envirox additive influenced the environmental aspects. Addition of additive was reflected positively on reduction of emissions of particular matters
