The article deals with collecting the information on the enemy composition and action as a very complicated and important part of the Common Operational Picture of the Situation on the Battlefield, through which commanders obtain complex situational awareness of the battlefield. It clarifies the significance of speed and accuracy in identifying the enemy elements in the operational area as an important knowledge basis for analyzing future development. The author describes the ATR (automatic target recognition) database algorithm as a method for the effective identification of detected enemy forces and equipment and reflects on the possibilities of its employment in creating the Common Operational Picture of the Situation on the Battlefield on a real-time basis.
