Stakeholder Management in Project Environments
Original language description
Stakeholder management in project environments is perceived as one of the key factors for project success. This fact has been affirmed by observation and collection of data from IPMA Level C and Level B certification process candidates that has been carried out in the last 7 years. Outcomes of the survey comprised an analysis of current state of project management and identification of mistakes of stakeholder management in project environments. The defined practise of project management in the Czech Republic shows that many problems arise due to absence of an active stakeholder management – above all the escalation of project costs and prolongation of project realization period. Project managers do not perceive stakeholder management as a complex managing process that utilizes the outputs of other main, as well as auxiliary processes. The process of stakeholder management is often not implemented throughout the life cycle of projects and it is usually viewed as relating to customers, suppliers and the implementer's company only, not taking into consideration the importance of stakeholder management inside implementer teams themselves, not realizing that a mere precise definition of main realization processes of the project product without the workers' contribution does not suffice to attain project success. This fact is especially emphasised in the fifth edition of Project Management Body of Knowledge, the problems of stakeholder management being the most eminent part of the book's update. Stakeholder management in project environments is perceived as one of the key factors for project success. This fact has been affirmed by observation and collection of data from IPMA Level C and Level B certification process candidates which has been taking place the last 7 years.
