Possibilities of critical infrastructure protection against terrorism

  • Original language description

With the growth of globalization there is an increasing dependence of states on critical infrastructure. Disruption of its function would have a serious impact on national security, health or economy of the state. The big problem is a threat of attacks on the transport critical infrastructure, primarily in a form of terrorist attacks. For this reason, it is advisable, if not necessary, to apply the method of the security audit to identify weaknesses in the security of selected objects of critical infrastructure. From the results of the safety audit, i.e. based on the found security gaps, there were created scenarios of possible attacks on selected critical infrastructure. To verify the generated scenarios there was used constructive simulation by using the Emergency Committee Training program. By using the simulation program, scenarios of possible attacks were created. The simulator was used to support dealing with a model of an emergency. This training is focused on the development of decision-making, communication skills and cooperation. Management and coordination of the forces and resources were simulated by the simulation system. Individual tu-tors and usability of scenarios and plans for dealing with simulated extraordinary events were assessed for overall evaluation of the exercise.
