Conversions of METB3 Meteorological Messages into the METEO11 Format
Original language description
Artillery units in the NATO armies have to be able to perform firing data calculations using standardized meteorological messages METB3 for manual calculations and METCM for computerized calculations. Artillery of some armies (especially of the former Warsaw pact) cannot process these messages because of some their weapon systems, firing tables and implemented tabular atmosphere model. They are still dependent on non-standardized meteorological message METEO11. This paper brings the solution for the Czech Army artillery of the introduced problem in the artillery meteorological support. Solving the problem lies in the ability to perform METB3 meteorological messages conversions into the METEO11 format. Authors have defined the original mathematical model of conversions, which they have used for the development of the new software. In the end of the paper, there is a short analysis of the conversion accuracy.
