Original language description
The aim of this paper is to empirically investigate the determinants of terrorist attacks in a sample of 159 developed and developing countries. The results present the performance of a classification tree to classify countries on the basis of the relation between the institutional environment and terrorism risk. The classification results therefore clearly shows the significant influence of the variable Political Stability and Absence of Violence (PSAV) that splits the original 159 analysed countries into two branches facing distinctly different terrorism risks.
