TEACHING PROFESSIONAL ETHICS IN THE SYSTEM OF MILITARY TERTIARY EDUCATION WITH THE USE OF ADVENTURE EDUCATION
Original language description
The contribution represents a partial output of the specific research project entitled "The Moral Integrity of the Personality of a Member of the Army of the Czech Republic" (SV15-FVL-K104-06-MIK) realized by the members of the Faculty of Military Leadership at the University of Defence in 2014 - 2017. Its aim is to present the possibility of using adventure education in the teaching of professional ethics in the tertiary education system of military professionals in the Czech Republic. It describes the principles and specific approaches of adventure education to the educational process and, on their basis, a created model of teaching military professional ethics focused on the issue of value transfer. The essence of the model is the implementation of a specific activity (game) evoking an authentic behaviour and subsequent review. During the activity, the attitudes, opinions and some personality traits of the participants become evident. The follow-up review allows the manifestations of moral-value attitudes, personal feelings and individual as well as common experiences to be reflected and named. Selected examples illustrate how it is possible to open questions about the ethical values of a soldier in the students, how to lead and provoke them to think about the value system of their profession and about the need to cultivate their own personalities in this area using the appropriate application of adventure education. The suitability of the selected application is supported by the results of the feedback from students and teachers on the already realized teaching of the ethical thematic block within the subject of Leadership, which acutely includes the teaching of military professional ethics in the conditions of the University of Defence.
