Comparison of the Assessment Results of the Municipality Area Vulnerability to Natural Disaster Risks
Original language description
The article on the assessment of vulnerability to natural disasters uses an original area vulnerability and risk assessment process for municipalities in the Czech Republic created by the author. This procedure has been developed in accordance with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and respects general principles of disaster risk management at the same time. Physical, social, economic and environmental factors have been identified as the main vulnerability factors and indicators have been developed and tested for them. Indicators speed up and standardize the process of vulnerability characterization. Firstly, the article presents the results of the vulnerability assessment of individual factors for the risk of the environmental origin for three municipalities with extended powers. Secondly, the results have been mutually compared in relation to the individual vulnerability factors and municipalities. The area vulnerability assessment results for municipalities are primarily intended to help focus the adaptation and mitigation measures on the problematic areas and individual types of environmental risks.
