Assessment of Security Aspects of Immigration

  • Original language description

Despite the positive aspects of migration, it is necessary to pay attention to the negative effects of migration on countries and regions, as well as on individuals. In the 1990s, migration began to be associated with the threat of crime and the infiltration of Western countries by Islamist terrorist groups. The chapter deals with a specific part of the protection of the population in connection with immigration and the subsequent assessment of criminal risks resulting from the security aspects of immigration. Time series of data from important crime groups were used to assess criminal risks and trends in the development of the security environment in the Czech Republic, including impacts on security, were taken into account. Based on the results, the chapter presents a proposal for the methodology of criminal risk assessment in the environment of the Czech Republic and in relation to the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Poland based on a set of risk factors.
