Mains failures assessment using nonhomogeneous Poisson process
Original language description
This paper presents a study on mains failures occurrences (rate of occurrences of failures - ROCOF) modeled using nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP). The work deals with the modeling data records on water distribution network operation. These records are not very rich in terms of available information. However, even though the data records are sparse, the NHPP can be sufficiently used to describe the mains failure occurrence behavior. The averaging technique of polynomial model with combination of functional data analysis is applied. A train-test and full models give reasonable results for predicting the future behavior of the failure occurrence in terms of degradation path trajectory accompanied by confidence intervals.
