Torsional vibrations of aircraft piston engine
Original language description
This paper describes a calculating model of coupled crankshaft-propeller torsional-lateral vibrations and compares obtained results with measurement on the respective engine. The objective was to propose the method and to prove its effectiveness for analysis of crankshaft-propeller dynamics. The system of a M337 engine (6-cylinder, inverted in-line engine) with the three-bladed V506 propeller was under study. Only the torsional vibrations were taken into account in crankshaft dynamics analysis. A modelwith lumped masses was used for the crankshaft. Model of the propeller assumes lateral vibrations in the plain of the smallest lateral stiffness of the blades. For the measurement of the engine torsional vibrations, the LTV (Laser Torsional Vibrometry) system was used.
