Abstract?Common operational picture is a main enabler to transform military command and control processes in the information and knowledge age. Two dimensional (2D) visualization applications that can show the battlefield situation are still in use. Thestate of the art in the visualization field is to show the battlefield in real time in three dimensions (3D). First part of the article deals with the current state of visualization system in military command and control system. Second part is aimed on analysis of tactical data form from the visualization and necessity point of view. Last part explains architecture of a 3D visualization system and its integration into currently used command and control system.
