Sources of Acoustic Emission in the Fluid Power Systems
Original language description
The intensity of acoustic emission signal generated by fluid power elements can be evaluated in miscellaneous ways. Due to the nature of acoustic emission signal (broadband high-frequency signal) it is possible to use various frequency bands but it is always very useful to choose the optimal frequency range which is application dependent and can be established experimentally only. The paper presents the results of the measured acoustic emission signal on basic fluid power elements (pressure relief valve, throttle valve, gear pump) in the frequency range 25-80 kHz. Optimal frequency bands and convenient methods of signal processing are also presented. Preliminary results confirm that the measurement of acoustic emission and suitable processing of acquired data present an additional and useful approach to frequently used diagnostic procedures.
