Original language description
This contribution deals with one type of figurate numbers ? the heptagonal pyramidal numbers. In the introductory part we define these figurate numbers and state the basic formula for the nth heptagonal pyramidal number. In the main part we derive another four formulas for the nth heptagonal pyramidal number. Further we express the reciprocals of these numbers and then we show that the series of the reciprocals of the heptagonal pyramidal numbers converges and derive the upper boundary of its sum. Thiscontribution can be an inspiration for teachers of mathematics whose are teaching the topic Infinite series or as a subject matter for work with talented students.
