Application of Surface Roughness Unconventional Characteristics to Analyse the Barrel Bore Wear

  • Original language description

The article describes the application of integral methods to assess a specimen surface and check the barrel bore top end performance features. The article's aim is to assess the relation between the surface quality and its functional performance by unconventional and non-standard characteristics. Use of the unconventional methods in analysing changes in performance tends to process structured surfaces, when a surface is "tailor-made" to a component role. Such surfaces are based on their physical substance with features corresponding to the required function. They are normally characterized by the wavelength of profile roughness, statistic and spectral features.
