Reason and Objectives of Cross-Country Movement Evaluation
Original language description
There is the influence of geographical factors to battle potential and to cross-country movement (CCM) calculated in this article. Modern forms of combat action are based on the detailed analysis of the area of interest using tools of geographic information systems (GIS). The basic analysis, based on evaluation of military-geographic conditions of battlefield, is the analysis of cross-country movement. The goal of this paper is also the identification of main geographic factors that affect the cross-country movement modelling, which is very important for the military operations management. In the paper are included some classifications of the CCM levels and corresponding geographical factors (terrain relief, vegetation, hydrology, soil, weather, urbanarea, lines of communications) and another features affecting the cross-country movement. There is also common impact of geographic factors on vehicle route deceleration expressed in paper.
