    The article deals with application using genetic algorithm for minimization operational cost of distribution network by topology change - reconfiguration. The optimization changes the setups of the switchgears to such configuration which leads to minimalpower losses costs and minimal penalization given by violating selected continuity standards. The Finnish continuity standard at systems level or Portuguese continuity standard at single-customer level can be selected for evaluation of power supply discontinuity. The Genetic algorithm is designed as multi-attribute optimization with mono-objective evaluation. The binary coding of solutions is used.
