Simulation within Force Protection Engineering
Original language description
Asymmetric threats in military operations as well as threats of terrorist attacks on public objects have presented serious problems. One of these threats is an attack with explosives. Force protection engineering deals with protection against explosion and mitigation of blast effects, and plays a key role in force protection. Planning of protective measures can be based on practical experience with blast effects on structures and personnel, or on modern methods such as simulations. Simulations can be used to predict effects of explosion and can help to find out adequate protection measures or to estimate attack consequences. This method is applicable in military environment as well as in civilian protection.
