Airframe Battle Damage Analysis and Possibilities of Further Development
Original language description
The paper solves some of the problems connected with aircraft battle damage. The main attention is focused on the assessment of a nature and a size of a primary damage, which is occurred immediately after hit. In next step, results of fatigue tests are analyzed and discussed. These tests are aimed to monitor and determine time interval of fatigue crack growth. Experiments show that the airframe damage inflicted by 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm caliber is generally insignificant considering static strength and theprimary damage progress allowed us to operate long enough to reach our own airbase or, in extreme situations, to temporary fulfill combat tasks even with damaged aircraft.
