Investigation of DLC Coating Deposited on Plasma Nitrided Austenitic Stainless Steel
Original language description
Duplex surface engineering, as the name implies involves the sequential application of two or more established surface technologies to produce a surface composite with combined properties, which are unobtainable trough any individual surface technology.Austenitic stainless steel is widely spread in industrial applications due to corrosion resistance, high temperature strength, but low hardness and wear resistance limited its applying. A combination of plasma nitriding and PVD coating as surface treatment has been used to improve material properties as hardness, wear and corrosion resistance. In the presented work a duplex coating was investigated. The duplex treatment consists of a plasma nitriding at 510 °C for 6 hours and subsequent PVD DLC was applied to an AISI 316L stainless steel.
