Despite the fact that the last flood affected part of the Czech Republic three years ago, it is very important to be still prepared to face this threat in the future. The paper deals with utilization of new elevation data of the airborne laser scanning for the designing of temporary bridges. New possibilities of temporary bridges designing were verified during Joint Staff Exercise of the Military Geographic and Hydrometeorological Office in Dobruška and engineers from the University of Defence in Brno.There were used new altimetric data of the Czech Republic (digital terrain model of 4th and 5th generations), which served as the basis for the designing of the temporary bridge.
