Original language description
The article presents two approaches to the creation of applications working with information: an approach driven by o ntology or the one driven by a database. The first approach is repre sented by the application based on Knowledge Management System supporting cooperation of military universities (MilUNI) , and the second approach is introduced by the application based on Database Management System Postgres for processing the information about university science and research (IS- SID). The article presents the structure and functions of the applications. The approaches are compared, which results in stipulating their potential benefits and problems of the specific applications development.
