The Use of Mathematical Modeling in the Protection of Military Bases
Original language description
Nowadays, with the massive increasing of terrorism, there is more frequent use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) as a powerful non-conventional weapon. Important military objects or parts of military base entrance can be chosen as a target. For thisreason, the protection of infrastructure against terrorist attacks is one of the main goals to be solved. The current attitudes connected with terrorist threats are mainly based on practical experience with the effects of explosions. These premises are based on analytical expression of blast wave spreading in free space. However, in many ways, these methods are inadequate. The modern view with a possibility of a blast effects prediction consists in the use of simulation software and enables to find an adequate solution of specific situation. The article deals with the possibilities of ANSYS software as an appropriate complex tool in the protection of military bases against the effects of the blast wave.
