The benefit of Geology for Explosive Ordnance Clearance
Original language description
The paper would like present two cases, when geology supports explosive ordnance clearance (EOC) activities. Ground conditions can play a substantial role while planners prepare assets to achieve free from explosives land. Apart of visual searching the proximity and remote geophysics are applied. The methods like electromagnetic detection as well as magnetic measurements shall be taken into account. This article wants to show, how the geologist is capable to make forensic expertise in controversial results of EOD clearance. The users of cleared land may raise claims of quality assurance. But there are aspects which nobody can overwhelm. Any searching method has its own limitations. The unexploded ordnance can be moved artificially and unintentionally to surprising locations. Moreover, detection is a geophysical methodology and it depends on the scale of searching, either close or remote, where the effect of geology plays substantial roles.
