The rapid changes taking place in society, economy, culture and environment result in greater significance of language learning for every individual. Language competence, especially English language competence, is a significant aspect of students´ academic lives and their prospective careers. Gradually the main mode of communication used and most of the teaching contents and the sources of information are in English. After graduation, English retains its predominance because it is the official languageused in work places worldwide. The criterion to be successful in the future career depends not only on the ability to read and understand texts, to listen a lecture or presentation, to perform calculations and experiments, but mainly it is based on the skill to present the innovative and creative ideas in English convincingly. The paper deals with the importance of English language competence in every part of the professional life of a military professional. The research part is based on
