Original language description
The paper is focused on the internal ballistics quasi-dynamic analysis of the carbon dioxide (CO2) powered guns systems. The core of this work is to comprehensively examine the phase behavior of carbon dioxide utilized as the source of energy to propel the projectile and to develop an equilibrium discharge mathematical model for CO2 tanks to obtain an advanced understanding the discharge characteristics of a wide range of pressure-tanks configurations. The system of differential equations of the mathematical model is based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics. In order to determine the critical flow, the speed of sound in a two-phase fluid is taken into consideration for the calculation algorithm. The variations of the presented discharge model have been also addressed, i.e. two-tanks with discharged fluid and discharge from the storage tank to surroundings.
