Original language description
The paper is focused on the material analysis of 12,7 mm x 99 mm brass cartridge cases of two producers. The reason for complete material analyses was about 40% longitudinal cracking of different lengths of cartridge cases after shoting. The material analysis of above mentioned brass cartridge cases was performed using the laboratory equipment of Department of Engeneering and consisted of following steps: sampling and sample preparation, microstructure evaluation using the light microscope Olympus GX 51, wall thickness measuring of cartridge cases, hardness measuring using the LECO LV800AT, microhardness measuring using the microhardness tester LECO LM247AT, chemical composition measuring using the X-ray spectrometer Delta. The material analysis showed increased hardness, differences of the microstructure and chemical composition, which causes longitudinal cracking of brass cartridge cases when fired.
