This paper brings the theoretical approach to the sizing of electric drive for the special light vehicle - mountain bike, optimal design and concept of the power chain, specifics of components and some results from practical tests in the field. The prototype power and characteristics are sufficient even in the heavy terrain for all supposed aims. Some results from the prototype practical tests are presented.
