The paper discusses a distribution of the zeros of the polynomial $$p(lambda) = lambda^k-alphalambda^(k-m)-beta$$ with respect to the unit circle. This problem is of a theoretical as well as practical importance which motivated many authors to formulate necessary and sufficient conditions guaranteeing the location of all the zeros of $p(lambda)$ inside the unit circle. Using various approaches, different forms of conditions ensuring this property have been obtained. We give here an overview and comparisons of these conditions, and show equivalence between some of them.
