Original language description
The realm of production of thematic maps at a strategic command level and related problems have not yet been addressed in sufficient breadth and needed detail. It was not addressed neither in the Czech Army nor within NATO and EU structures where a number of geographic departments exist and provide specific activities in favour of this command level. This book discusses geospatial support at a strategic command level and focuses mainly on a production of thematic maps that represent the most often created geographic products at this command level, either in printed or digital form or in the form of web services. The text is divided into nine chapters which focus on presentation of geographic departments and their tasks at a strategic level, explanation of thematic maps and specifics of their production and use, identification of requirements on these products, explaining importance of respecting of cartographic principles when creating thematic maps and description of thematic map production technology.
