In this article, a small automatic weapon mounted on the tripod (PKMS machine gun) was taken as the research object to analyze the firing stability in case of burst firing. A rigid-flexible coupling multi-body dynamic model of the small caliber machine gun was established, in which the influence of soil and human body was taken into account. The dynamic simulation was conducted for the PKMS machine gun. In addition, the paper studies the effects of some structural parameters on the firing stability of the weapon when firing. The results obtained contribute to the process of improving, designing, manufacturing, and exploiting machine guns more effectively.
