Life Expectancy of Generation Z versus Requirements for the Military Pilot and Air Traffic Controller Study Specializations at the University of Defence
Original language description
The study of technical-based study programs at universities requires considerable general theoretical knowledge from students. In addition, the Military Pilot and Air Traffic Controller study programs place increased demands on health and physical condition. This article aims to qualitatively compare applicants for the specializations of the Military Pilot and Air Traffic Controller at the University of Defence with a comparable generational population in the Czech Republic. For the purposes of this research, a questionnaire survey was conducted among applicants for these specializations. The following data were then analyzed for comparison: data from the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic on the structure of secondary school graduation exams, data from the Czech School Inspectorate on the state of physical condition of secondary school students, and the health examination results of applicants at the Institute of Aviation Medicine in Prague. The results of the survey showed that applicants for study at the University of Defence have a significantly higher theoretical foundation in mathematics and physics. In terms of health status, the long-term trend is ongoing. However, the results of last year may indicate the beginning of deterioration in the health of applicants for studies. All results are discussed in the context of the current generation Z.
