Optimizing Airport Capacity: Reduced Runway Separation as a Key Element
Original language description
This article focuses on optimizing the capacity of a selected airport through the introduction of reduced runway separation. Reduced RWY separation is an innovative concept that allows for a reduction in the distance between aircraft taking off and landing on a fixed surface, which can significantly increase the efficiency of airport operations. In this article, we analyze the methods of implementing reduced RWY separation and their impact on the overall airport capacity. We present a case study that shows how the introduction of reduced runway separation can lead to an increase in the number of movements per hour, i.e. to an increase in airport capacity. The results of this study indicate that the introduction of reduced RWY separation can be a key element in optimizing airport capacity and improving overall operational performance. This work provides important insights for experts in airport planning and operations who seek to maximize the efficiency and capacity of their airports
