    Riverbed Analysis using GPR

  • Original language description

This study explores the application of GroundPenetrating Radar (GPR) for analyzing watercourse trafficability, focusing on the Vltava River as a case study. GPR technology enables the measurement of subsurface structures by detecting differences in material permittivity, providing critical insights into riverbed depth, relief, slope gradient of the banks, and bed composition. Data obtained using GPR offer real-Time assessments, significantly improving the decision-making process for military operations or rescue missions. Compared to conventional methods, which often rely on outdated databases, GPR provides accurate and immediate information, enhancing the efficiency of evaluating terrain trafficability. This initial measurement on the Vltava River demonstrated the feasibility of GPR measurement for identifying riverbed structures and highlighted its potential to approximate material composition.
