Soil anomalies play a crucial role in determining terrain passability, which is essential for applications such as military operations and mobility planning. This study investigates the impact of soil anomalies on terrain passability models, focusing on the detection of moisture-related anomalies in soils like chernosols. Soil anomalies can significantly influence vehicle mobility, especially in military operations. Traditional soil databases often miss these localized variations, leading to inaccurate predictions. This research integrates remote sensing data, particularly from Sentinel-2 satellites, with field surveys and the 'Water and Wetness' (WaW) product to identify areas of excess moisture and their effects on soil passability. The study demonstrates that the WaW product can reliably detect large-scale wet areas, contributing to more accurate terrain mobility planning. The findings highlight the importance of combining remote sensing, GIS analysis, and field data to improve passability predictions.
