Non-Parametric Reliability Analysis of Selected Aviation Components

  • Original language description

This article focuses on the reliability of position lights in Aero L-159 Alca aircraft using nonparametric methods. Position lights are an essential part of flight safety, ensuring visibility and recognition of the aircraft during various flight phases. Building upon previous research, which relied on a homogeneous Poisson process, this study plans to apply nonparametric approaches, such as probability function estimation, density estimation, and kernel density estimation. The research highlights the advantages of these methods, such as flexibility in handling diverse data distributions, while addressing their drawbacks, including higher computational demands. The results will be compared with parametric approaches to evaluate their efficiency and practical impacts on fleet maintenance and operation. This study provides new insights into reliability modelling, which can be leveraged to enhance safety and predict failures in aviation. © 2025 IEEE.
